The River Rock Casino opened Sept. 15, 2002 in 2 tent structures with 60 slot machines after voter approval 2 years earlier. In a few years after opening the casino expanded to 1,600 slot machines, 20 gaming table and a buffet restaurant.

The Dry Creek Band of Pomo Indians plan to replace the tent structure with a $300 million Tuscan-themed hotel and casino in the next few years. The plan includes a larger casino, a150-200 room luxury hotel and several new restaurants. Construction has been postponed due to the current economy.
